The first national ethnic minority congress will be held at the My Dinh National Convention Centre on May 12 and 13 with the participation of 1,700 representatives from across the countries.
The information was given by Giang Seo Phu, Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Affairs, at a press conference in Hanoi on March 17.
Mr. Phu also informed the conference of the result of the congress at district and provincial levels. He said the congress has fostered the unity of the party, the government and people and the solidarity among the community.
“There will be a variety of activities on the sidelines of the congress,” he said. They include an exhibition to introduce the cultural characters and achievements of Vietnamese ethnic minorities, a trade fair, a pilgrimage to Hung Kings temple, a commemoration of heroic martyrs, and a ceremony to honour outstanding organisations and individuals in the patriotic emulation movement.
