Exchange program to honor “Uncle Ho’s soldiers - Troops of Buddha”
PANO – The Center for Vietnamese historical and traditional education on January 6 held an exchange program to honor the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors, who had served the international mission in Cambodia.
The event was to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Southwestern border protection war and joint victory of Vietnam and Cambodia over the genocidal regime in Cambodia (January 7, 1979).
The program attracted nearly 600 delegates from 11 provinces, and cities in the North.
The activity aimed to promote national pride, the Vietnamese fine tradition of “Uong nuoc nho nguon” (When drinking water, remember its source), and the spirit of international solidarity between the Vietnam and Cambodia peoples.
At the event, the delegates recalled their memories about the Southwestern border protection war and the sentiments of the Cambodian people for Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors.
The organizing panel also awarded Certificates of Honor and Campaign Medals to outstanding individuals and presented 35 gifts to policy families.
