The maturation ritual is an important event in each Ede person’s life, as it affirms that from the moment of the ritual a person is recognized by the community as a mature one with responsibility for his/her family and village.
The century-old ritual is one of the typical and significant rituals of the Ede people in Phu Yen province.
Normally, parents hold rituals for their children. The relatives of the newly grown-ups will take the responsibility to hold the ritual in case their parents cannot by somehow do it or passed away.
