PANO - UNESCO in Asia-Pacific on February 18th presented a 2013 honourable award on Cultural Heritage Protection to the Duong Lam traditional ancient house preservation project.

Over the past year, actively supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency, the project successfully restored 5 structures valuable in architecture and historical culture, namely Mong Phu village gate, On pagoda, Giang Van Minh Temple, and two ancient houses named Nguyen Van Hung and Hoang Van Vinh.

The Cultural Heritage Protection Awards were set up in 2000 by UNESCO, recognizing and promoting contributions of organizations and individuals to preserving and bringing into play cultural values.

Apart from Duong Lam village, the awards were also presented to other preservation projects in Vietnam, including Hoi An Old Quarter (in 2000), ancient Viet house (in 2004), Tang family chapel (in 2009) and the lost bomb shelter at the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hotel Hanoi (in 2013).
