The National Museum of History is exhibiting a number of antiquities featuring the dragon to mark the Year of the Dragon 2012.

Nearly 100 antiquities were selected from hundreds of thousands of precious objects carefully kept by the Museum.

Items, dating back from Dong Son Culture to early the 20th century, were made of different materials, including stone, pottery, wood and bronze.

Through this exhibition, viewers could learn more about changing thoughts of the image of dragon in culture, rituals of Vietnamese people.

The image of the dragon also features changes in aesthetics and creating ability.

The “Kham van chi” seal made of gold in 1827, a precious stone statue of dragon created between the 1st and 3rd centuries, and stone spear and axe of Dong Son Culture (2,000 to 2,500 years ago) are prominent items on display.
