On August 29th, the Quang Ngai Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism displayed more than 500 exhibits and images introducing cultures in Quang Ngai and coastal southern central areas and Han Nom documents relating to national sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa Archipelagos.

Themed, “Quang Ngai-Cultural Heritages of Islands and Sea”, the exhibition also introduced some images featuring cultural and ritual life of fishermen, potentiality as well as strength of economics based on islands and sea.

Notably, the exhibition is introducing merchant ships, typical in the Central and mostly used from the 16th to early 20th centuries, and other trawlers and boats used by troops of Hoang Sa Flotilla, also in charge of Truong Sa, during the late 16th century to early the second half of 19th century.

Along with items typical of cultures of Sa Huynh, Champa, other potteries under the Le Dynasty in Vietnam, the Ming and Tang dynasties in China are being showcased as well.

The 5-day exhibition is expected to raise awareness of and responsibility for islands and sea protection and the tradition of revolution and patriotism among Vietnamese people, especially younger generations.
