Addressing the event, Buddhist nun Thich Nu Gioi Tanh, Director of the Vietnamese Buddhist Cultural Center in the RoK, said that over the past years, Buddhist followers and the center’s members have enthusiastically made efforts to connect the Vietnamese community in the RoK. Through a number of cultural exchanges and the Vietnamese language spreading activities, they have actively boosted the close relationship and friendship between the peoples of Vietnam and the RoK.

According to the Buddhist nun, this cultural exchange aimed to link Vietnamese and Korean people and help open a new horizon for the two countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership to further develop in the time ahead.

In his speech, former Deputy Foreign Minister and Head of the Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese Nguyen Phu Binh highly praised the center in particular and overseas Vietnamese in general for their utmost efforts. He stressed that with deep sentiment for the home country, they are important factors to help promote the cooperative and friendly ties between the two countries.

Binh said that Vietnam and the RoK are close friends and leading partners. He laid stress on the important meaning of such an exchange to connect overseas Vietnamese with the Motherland and to consolidate the country’s friendship and cooperative ties with other countries in the world.

In the exchange, there were many significant activities such as art performances, a fashion show introducing the Vietnamese Ao dai (Vietnamese traditional long dress) and RoK’s traditional costumes and presentation of certificates of merit to groups and individuals with contribution to Vietnam - RoK cultural linkage.

The event with deep imprints of the Vietnamese culture and Vietnamese Buddhist culture will help tighten the friendship between Vietnam and the RoK and popularize good values of Vietnam and its people to the RoK and international friends.
