The event was held on the occasion of the 100th birthday of Major General, Hero of the People’s Armed Forces Dang Tran Duc (1922 - 2022).
Born in 1922 in Thanh Tri district, Hanoi, Major General, Hero of the People’s Armed Forces Dang Tran Duc, aka Ba Quoc and Nguyen Van Ta, former member of the Party Central Committee, Director of Department 12 of General Department II (General Department of Defense Intelligence), was in charge of the Southern intelligence force. For his excellent feats-of-arms, he was credited as one of three ‘trump cards” of Vietnam’s intelligence sector.
Twenty-four years working in the enemy’s nest, the genius intelligence officer collected many valuable documents and information for the revolution. In any circumstances, he used to uphold his will power and revolutionary morality and excellently completed assigned tasks. After 1975, he made great contribution to the intelligence sector in the cause of national construction and defense.

To protect his exceptionally brilliant and mysterious intelligence activities, his family members underwent many losses and sacrifices. Despite a lot of material and spiritual hardships, Mr. Dang Tran Duc’s wife Pham Thi Thanh and his children in the North silently endured so that he could work safely. His second wife, Ngo Thi Xuan, and their children in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) wholeheartedly supported him to complete his mission when operating in the enemy's nest.
On the occasion of the 100th birthday of Major General, Hero of the People's Armed Forces Dang Tran Duc, the Army Publishing House, the People's Army Newspaper, Vietnam Television Channel 9 (VTV9), and Media 21 Company have published books, newspaper publications, and documentaries about the life, career, and important contribution of the eminent intelligence officer to pay tribute to the former generations for their great contribution and sacrifices to the national construction and defense cause. The book, titled "The Teacher," is one of the publications. The book with Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh as Chief Author is about Major General, Hero of the People's Armed Forces Dang Tran Duc (alias Ba Quoc), an example of an intelligence commander, one of the outstanding examples of the defense intelligence sector as well as of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnam People's Army.

In the book, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh wrote that “The Teacher” is not only about the contribution of Hero of the People's Armed Forces Dang Tran Duc, but also the sacrifices of his wives and children; husband-wife, father-children, teacher-student relationship; his lessons.
Speaking at the event, Dang Tran Thanh, Major General Dang Tran Duc’s son, expressed the happiness and pride to receive love from Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh and students of his father.
