The fifth Southern Khmer Cultural, Sports and Tourism Festival 2011 will take place in An Giang Province in the first 4 days of December.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced at a press conference in HCMC yesterday that the upcoming event includes many special Khmer folk festivals, public art and traditional costumes performances, introduction of local eating & drinking culture, show and competition of introducing books, ethnic minority sporting categories and cultural exhibitions.
Moreover, the Organising Board will hold a scientific seminar “Integration, development and problems of conserving and upholding historical and cultural monument values of the area III” and the first ever cow race.
In addition, the visitors can also enjoy 65 booths of domestic and Cambodian businesses showing their special products as well as a pyrotechnics performance at the opening ceremony.
The Festival aims to strengthen the great national unity bloc and honour and introduce the traditional cultural identity of southern Khmer patriots to tourists inside and outside the country.
