Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia boost cooperation in crime combat
Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos have committed to enhancing cooperation in fighting transnational crimes in all forms, especially drug crime, human trafficking, smuggling, terrorism and high-tech crime.
Vietnamese Minister of Public Security General To Lam, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Samdech Krolahom Sar Kheng and Lao Minister of Public Security General Vilay Lakhamphong met virtually on January 5.
The ministers agreed to step up the exchange of information and coordination in combating the COVID-19 pandemic and other infectious diseases and natural disasters in border provinces.

The three countries will also strengthen cooperation at regional and international forums, and tighten collaboration in ensuring security to serve major national and international events to be organized in each country.
In his remarks, Lam highlighted comprehensive cooperation between police and law enforcement forces of the three countries, as well as the effective collaboration between public security forces of their border cities and provinces.
He suggested the ministries should consider cooperation in national defense and security as a pillar in relations between the three countries, further coordination in implementing Vietnam-Laos and Vietnam-Cambodia agreements, and enhance information sharing.
At the end of the meeting, the ministers signed a joint statement, and reiterated their commitments to boosting bilateral and tripartite security cooperation.
