The visit is President Luong Cuong’s first overseas trip in 2025. It holds significant diplomatic importance, highlighting the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, affirming Vietnam’s consistent policy of always valuing and prioritizing its special solidarity with Laos. Vietnam continues to strongly support Laos’s renewal process and further strengthen mutual trust and the close ties between the senior leaders of the two parties and states.

The special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, founded by Presidents Ho Chi Minh, Kaysone Phomvihane, and Souphanouvong, nurtured by many generations, have yielded fruitful outcomes, contributing to the cause of renewal, national construction and defense in each country.
In particularly, political relations have become increasingly close and trustworthy, playing a core role in shaping the overall direction of the bilateral ties. Defense and security cooperation - one of the key pillars - has continued to be strengthened in both quality and scale. Economic, trade, and investment cooperation has witnessed positive changes, with two-way trade turnover in the first three months of 2025 reaching over 980 million USD, a 105.5% increase compared to the same period last year.
Educational, training, and cultural cooperation has received much attention and been promoted. Cooperation between localities, especially those sharing a border, has been deepened and expanded, contributing to ensuring security and order in border areas of both countries. Vietnam and Laos have maintained close coordination and mutual support at regional and international cooperation forums, particularly within the frameworks of the ASEAN, the United Nations, and various sub-regional mechanisms.
President Luong Cuong’s visit is seen as an opportunity for both countries to exchange views about each country’s situation, regional and global developments of mutual interest, as well as review recent cooperation efforts and discuss ways to further cultivate Vietnam-Laos relations for a brighter future.
We believe that the Vietnamese President’s state visit to Laos would conclude successfully, contributing to lifting the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries to a new height, for the benefit of the people of both countries, for peace, stability, cooperation, development, and prosperity in the region and the world.
