The deputy minister stressed that Vietnam has taken a pro-active approach in studying international experiences and adopting recommendations from reputable global organizations to establish an ethical regulatory framework suited to the country’s domestic context, while fostering the development of responsible AI products that align with existing legal standards.
He outlined several recommendations on avenues for international cooperation to help ensure a safer and more trustworthy digital environment for people in the years ahead. Vietnam believes that all parties should actively implement key existing initiatives and frameworks on AI governance and digital security, such as the Global Digital Compact and the Cross-Border Privacy Rules, Lam said.
He underscored the need for continued efforts to develop a flexible and regionally harmonized legal framework, paving the way for the establishment and mutual recognition of common technical standards and regulations for AI across ASEAN member states.
Lam called for the creation of AI research and application centers within the ASEAN region, the interconnection and integration of national data centers, and the establishment of mechanisms for information sharing, alerts, and coordination on AI-related applications.
