At the end of 2023, the department signed a memorandum of understanding on forest management and protection with the agro-forestry departments of Laos’ Attapeu and Sekong provinces.

Since the beginning of this year, 61 patrols and operations have been conducted along the border communes of Kon Tum’s Ngoc Hoi and Dak Glei districts, adjacent to Laos. These efforts involved 458 personnel and resulted in the handling of one case violating the forestry law.

Currently, the Kon Tum agricultural extension center is assisting households in the Lao province of Salavan’s Laongam district to cultivate high-yield Robusta coffee, while providing agricultural production support in Sekong’s Dakcheung district.

Moving forward, the centre will continue to monitor and coordinate remote advisory exchanges with partners in Salavan, Sekong, Attapeu, and Cambodia’s Stung Treng province to sustain relevant agricultural cooperation development programs.
