Ho Chi Minh City stands ready to cooperate with Cambodian localities: city leader
Ho Chi Minh City is willing to step up its diverse cooperation with Cambodian localities, particularly in the areas of healthcare, education, trade promotion, and people-to-people exchange, according to a city leader.
Visiting the Cambodian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City on April 9 on the occasion of the Khmer people’s Chol Chnam Thmay festival, Vice Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy underscored the city’s commitment to realizing the cooperation potential between the two countries in alignment with the aspirations of both sides’ leaders and peoples.

Ho Chi Minh City always values and does its utmost to preserve, strengthen, and promote the sound relations with Cambodia in general and its localities in particular, Thuy stated, stressing the city’s interest in bolstering business cooperation, trade promotion, and exchange of goods to capitalize on economic, trade, and investment opportunities.
Expressing satisfaction with positive outcomes in the collaboration between Ho Chi Minh City and Cambodian provinces, Thuy suggested the Cambodian Consulate General and authorities continue supporting the operations of Cho Ray-Phnom Penh Hospital, which serves as a symbol of cooperation while providing Cambodian citizens with access to high-quality healthcare services.
In response, Consul General Chan Sorykan expressed gratitude for the city's consistent support and close cooperation with the consulate over the recent past.
The diplomat pledged efforts to strengthen the relations between Ho Chi Minh City and Cambodian localities, with plans to coordinate with Vietnamese sides to organize an investment cooperation promotion conference and a business forum. Additional plans include arranging blood donation campaigns for consulate staff, businesses, and Cambodian students in the city.
He took the occasion to ask Ho Chi Minh City for continued support and more scholarships for Cambodian students, helping improve the country’s human resources while reinforcing the Vietnam - Cambodia friendship.
