Speaking with Major General Pham Van Ty, head of the Vietnamese rescue mission, along with officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People’s Army’s rescue force, Minister He U Kyaw Soe Win appreciated Vietnam for its rapid assistance.

“We thank the Government and people of Vietnam, thank the ASEAN member states for their help during our difficult time,” he said.

The Minister shared that he had served as Myanmar's Ambassador to Vietnam for a long time; therefore, he deeply understood the sentiments and good relationship between the two countries. He required the forces serving at the accommodation of the Vietnamese rescue force to ensure the best conditions for their stay.

Major General Pham Van Ty emphasized that the deployment of Vietnam’s rescue forces to Myanmar not only shows their sentiments towards Myanmar and its people, but also demonstrates the responsibility of a member of the ASEAN Community. He affirmed that the Vietnamese rescue forces would try their best to help Myanmar minimize the losses caused by the earthquake.
