ASEAN senior officials gather
PANO - An ASEAN senior officials’ meeting (SOM) opened in Singapore on July 31 to make preparations for the 51st ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM-51) and related meetings to take place from August 1 to 4.
Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung, Head of Vietnam’s ASEAN SOM, led a delegation to take part in the meeting.
At the meeting, the participants double-checked and completed all preparations for the AMM-51 and related meetings, including a meeting of ASEAN Foreign Ministers with ten dialogue partners, ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting Plus Three, East Asia Summit (EAS) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Ministerial Meeting.

At the meeting, Vietnam voiced to cooperate closely with other ASEAN member countries to contribute to the success of the AMM-51 and related meetings, actively support the realization of initiatives under the theme of building a resilient and innovative ASEAN initiated by ASEAN Chair-Singapore, including ASEAN Smart Cities Network.
As country coordinator of ASEAN-India dialogue relations, Vietnam, via exchanges with other ASEAN member countries, agreed on prepared contents for the ASEAN Post Ministerial Conference (PMC) with India, scheduled for August 3.
According to a rotation plan, Vietnam will hand over the role as country coordinator of ASEAN-India dialogue relations to Thailand and receive the role as country coordinator of ASEAN-Japan dialogue relations since this August.
