Thailand hopes to become world’s startup centre
Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has expected his country to become a startup centre of the world that will attract crowds of businesses from multiple countries.
He expressed the hope at a recently held forum entitled “Renovating Thailand by Young Scientists” which drew the participation of about 500 startup representatives.

At the forum, many startups proposed the government to change startup-related laws, thus enabling them to access capital sources favourably.
The government should support startups and consider them an important force that contributes to national development, they said.
The Thai government is preparing plans for the second phase of the startup development programme in 2019-2021 with a hope of increasing the national GDP by 5 percent, creating 50,000 jobs and having additional 1,000 startups.
