Flash floods in Indonesia leave one dead, seven missing
Flash floods and landslides struck Sukabumi in Indonesia's West Java province on March 7, resulting in one fatality and seven others missing, according to an official.
Hadi Rahmat Hardjasasmita, spokesman for the West Java Regional Disaster Management and Mitigation Agency, reported that heavy rainfall began on March 6 afternoon and intensified.

Evacuation began early on March 7. The flash floods destroyed one bridge, and landslides buried roads in several areas.
The country's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency has issued warnings about extreme weather conditions this month, with the peak expected between March 11 and March 20.
Earlier, Indonesia's Ministry of Social Affairs said it had deployed staff to coordinate with authorities to ensure safe rescue operations and allocated IDR 3 billion (around USD 183,700) in aid for affected residents.
