Young people from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) met at the 19th ASEAN Youth Day in Hanoi on November 12.

The event forms part of the ASEAN youth cooperation programme slated from November 11-15 in Hanoi and the northern province of Quang Ninh.

Permanent Vice President of the National Committee on Youth of Vietnam Duong Van An said the day, with its theme “Youth unite for a prosperous ASEAN”, shows the significance of solidarity among the ten-member group as well as the youth’s role in building the ASEAN Community in 2015.

Young people exchanged information, experience and initiatives to enhance their understanding and cooperation, contributing to building a united and prosperous ASEAN.

Ten accomplished youth organisations will be honoured later in the day for their outstanding performance in organising meaningful programmes and activities in environmental protection, culture, education and training, employment and health care.

Another ten young people will also be hounoured on the night for their great contributions to the community.
