PANO – A press conference for the 13th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Environment and other relevant meetings took place in Hanoi on October 29th by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

Accordingly, the meeting, which was wrapped up the same day in Hanoi, approved the 2015 ASEAN joint statement on climate change. It will be submitted at the 27th ASEAN Summit in Malaysia in November and presented at the 21st Conference of Parties in Paris in December, with the draft on the ASEAN-China Strategy on Environmental Cooperation for the 2015-2020 period.

The participants also agreed the nomination of the Timpoong Hibok-Hibok national park in the Philippines and the Way Kambas national park in Indonesia as the 36th and 37th ASEAN heritage gardens.

Vietnam also proposed the Bai Tu Long national park in Quang Ninh province as an ASEAN heritage garden and will present a dossier to support the proposal at the next meeting.

The same day, the 11th meeting of the Conference of Parties to Haze Agreement (COP-11) took place in Hanoi. Notably, they passed a proposal from Indonesia to establish a centre for controlling trans-boundary haze in the country.
