Scientists at the the 2019/2020 ASEAN Science and Technology  Fellowship

The fellowship provides opportunities for scientists in Southeast Asia to apply their knowledge and analytical skills in promoting evidence-based policy making in the region.

During the two-day online workshop, the selected 17 scientists from nine ASEAN member states presented works on how to solve today’s challenges - COVID-19, the digital economy, innovative start-ups, and technology to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Together they also discussed ways to take advantage of the existing network of alumni to support evidence-based policy making efforts.

According to  USAID Director in ASEAN Ryan Washburn, since 2014, ASEAN and the U.S. have cooperated to support 69 young scientists who worked for 29 ministerial departments in the region.
