According to head of the Crime Unit of Indonesian National Police Senior Commissioner Ari Dono Sukmanto, ASEAN member nations agreed to set up the electronic Aseanapol database system (e-ADS) to support the fight against terrorists and transnational crimes.

The officer, who is attending the 37th Aseanapol conference in Singapore, said the plan to establish the system aims to facilitate exchanges of intelligence information quickly, safely and accurately, especially in the context of suicide attacks and radicalism as well as other transnational crimes becoming major challenges for law enforcers in the region.

Sophisticated information technology in the form of e-ADS is one of the solutions for the challenges, he noted.
