Another 5.1 magnitude earthquake recorded near Myanmar’s Mandalay
Another earthquake measuring 5.1 struck the area near Mandalay, the second-largest city in Myanmar with a population of about 1.5 million, on March 30 afternoon, just two days after the devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake.
Initial reports indicate that the fresh quake was located 27 km north of Mandalay. There is currently no information about the damage caused by it. However, according to some witnesses, many people screamed in panic and ran out into the streets.

Meanwhile, the Myanmar State Administration Council said that the death toll from the previous earthquake has risen to about 1,700, with 3,400 people injured and 300 still missing.
In neighboring Thailand, local authorities reported that the number of fatalities has increased to 17, together with 32 others injured and 83 missing. The country's Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation stated that it has received damage reports from 18 provinces across the country, saying the quake affected 420 houses, 48 temples, 76 hospitals, eight buildings, 23 schools, and 18 government offices. According to the agency's assessment, the risk of tremor is gradually decreasing.
