PANO – The Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Civil Engineering Construction Corporation No. 4 (Cienco 4) on the morning of February 1st started the construction of the flag tower of national sovereignty on Mat (eye) Island (Nghe An province). The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Nguyen Dac Vinh and others.

The flag tower on Mat Island is the first, out of the five flag towers to be built on outpost islands namely Mat Island (Nghe An province), Son Duong Island (Ha Tinh province), Hon Me Island (Thanh Hoa province), Cu Lao Cham Island (Quang Nam province), and Son Cha Island (Thua Thien-Hue province). The construction project is conducted under the cooperation of Cienco 4 and the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

Facing the sea, the national flag tower on Mat Island is built on the area of 30m2 with the height of 22.66m, designated to fly the 4mx6m flag. Coordinates of the flag tower will be embedded on its body to confirm the national sovereignty.

With the total investment of the VND 1.25 billion, of which VND 250 million was contributed by the youth union members of Nghe An province and the rest by Cienco 4, the flag tower is expected to make it debut on the 84th founding anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26th 2015).

On this occasion, the Youth Union Central Committee and Cienco 4 visited, sent new-year greetings and presented 30 gifts to the force on duty on Mat Island. VTC Multimedia Corporation also presented and installed 18 digital set-top boxes for the officers and soldiers on the island.
