Hoi An was recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage on December 4, 1999 and, to date, the town has managed to preserve many ancient architectural relics such as streetscapes, houses, communal houses, pagodas and ancient wells, featuring traditional Vietnamese art and demonstrating the cultural exchanges of Vietnam with Eastern and Western civilizations, and, as a result, for many years, Hoi An has become an attractive destination for domestic and foreign tourists.
