PANO – The Prime Minister has recently approved the third phase of the project “Sustainable conservation and management of the natural resources in the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park.”

The project will be implemented for one year, and funded by the non-refundable ODA of the German Government, worth EUR 2 million, and by the budget of the People’s Committee of Quang Binh province, worth EUR 175,000.

The project provides new methods and lessons on how to conserve the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park as applied by the local management agencies. Specifically, new models to raise livelihood and preserve the bio-diversity in the buffer zone of the park are to be developed and implemented on the basis of the participation and support of the agriculture expansion network, with a focus on women and ethnic minority groups.

Methods to enhance inter-border cooperation between the park and the Hin Namno National Protected Area of Khammouane province (Laos) were also discussed, agreed upon and will be put into operation.
