Thac Ba lake is one of the country’s three largest artificial lakes with 19,000ha of water and 1,300 islands with abundant flora and fauna.
The province is completing a master plan on developing Thac Ba lake into a national tourist site to submit to the government.
With national tourist landmarks such as Mu Cang Chai terraced fields, Khau Pha hill, Ta Xua and Ta Chi peaks, intangible cultural values of Thai, Mong and Muong ethnic minorities, and Dong Cuong temple – one of the important destinations for Mother Goddesses’ worship in Tran Yen-Van Yen district, Yen Bai focuses on ecological and resort, spiritual, community-based, sports and entertainment tourism.
To attract investment in tourism, the province has cut time for investment licensing to three days from five and processing of business establishment procedures from three to two days, said Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Do Duc Duy.
Yen Bai has also established a working group to remove obstacles facing businesses. It also devised a tourism promotion policy for 2017-2020, under which, investors will receive support in site clearance and marketing.
The provincial People’s Council issued a resolution on amendments and supplements to several contents of Decision 24 of the provincial People’s Committee to support investors in the field.
Lying on the gateway to the northwest and the key economic corridor Kunming – Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong, Yen Bai plays a central role in transport connectivity in northern mountainous provinces.
As home to 30 ethnic minorities and abundant cultural and tourism resources, Yen Bai is well-positioned to develop tourism.
