According to Ngo Hoai Chung, VNAT’s Deputy Director General, as one of the seven tourism regions of the country, the Mekong Delta has huge potential and advantages in exploiting and developing tourism based on agricultural production activities, and models which are applied by many countries in the world to exploit the potential of sustainable tourism.

In order to improve the values of agricultural tourism, Mekong Delta provinces should select specific agricultural models and production areas featuring typical characteristics of each locality on the basis of preserving traditional farming methods; work with travel agencies to bring tourists to attractive farms and rural areas; and increase tourism promotion programs.

Opinions during the workshop have shown that the problem posed for state management agencies is to connect tourism developers and specialists and solve relevant issues such as clean water supply, toilets and improvement of the rural environment.
