The program introduced the “Visit Vietnam Year – Hue 2025” campaign, new tourism trends, and direct flight options from Vietnam Airlines. It also facilitated networking between Vietnamese and German travel businesses. Many German travel companies and visitors attended the event.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Director General of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism Ha Van Sieu noted that 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic ties. He highlighted Germany’s strong interest in long journeys, culturally immersive, and sustainable travel. In the first five months of 2025, nearly 140,000 German visitors arrived in Vietnam, up over 16% year-on-year. Hue, Hanoi, Hoi An, and coastal destinations like Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, and Quy Nhon are increasingly popular among German tourists.
Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Investment Counselor at the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany, emphasized that the event forms part of the broader “Visit Vietnam Year – Hue 2025” campaign in Europe.
She cited a survey by Agoda showing Vietnam ranked among the top five most-searched Asian destinations by European tourists. The Vietnamese embassy and consulates-general in Germany are committed to supporting tourism promotion, business matchmaking, and investment in infrastructure, eco-tourism, cruise tourism, and training programs.
According to Tran Thi Hoai Tram, Director of the Hue Tourism Department, Germany is now the third-largest source of international tourists to the central city of Hue, with 30,000 German visitors in the first five months of the year.
Petra Schwert, Vietnam Airlines’ representative in Germany, introduced the carrier’s new direct routes connecting Munich with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, improving travel access for German tourists.
The event featured traditional Vietnamese music performances and promotional giveaways from Vietnam Airlines, offering attendees a deeper cultural experience.
