A cooperative agreement on promoting international arrivals to Vietnam was signed by the National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) and the telecommunications group MobiFone in Hanoi on June 26.

Under the agreement, a new tourism information portal, Halo Vietnam, will be introduced at www.mplace.vn, providing information on services, destinations, food, hotels, restaurants, entertainment and sports in a number of locations in Vietnam.

The portal will also enable viewers to give their opinions on and rank tourism destinations and services in a bid to improve sector quality. Customers will also eventually be able to make online reservations through the site.

VNAT General Director Nguyen Van Tuan said the application of information technology, especially telecommunications and smart phones, is an effective marketing channel for the sector and e-marketing is a key solution.

Mobifone is one of the country’s leading telecommunications companies, providing services for over 40 million subscribers in Vietnam.

In 2014, the company introduced a Happy Tourist Package service offering instruction manuals in six languages, including English, Chinese, Russian, Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese for international arrivals.
