Sam Mountain to become special tourism site by 2030
The Prime Minister has approved a master plan to develop the Sam Mountain national tourism site in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang into a special spiritual and cultural site by 2025 with a vision towards 2030.
The site is expected to welcome 6 million visitors with 800,000 in-house guests by 2025, with the figures projected to rise to 7 million visitors and 1 million in-house guests by 2030. Revenue from tourism services is targeted at more than 6 trillion VND (264.13 million USD) and jobs will be created for nearly 9,000 local laborers in the next 13 years.

Under the master plan, the site includes an area to preserve Chau Doc city’s traditional architecture and culture, a cultural park, an eco-tourism site, an eco-resort site, an eco-farm, and a cultural-spiritual site.
Cultural-spiritual tourism products that feature pilgrimage, Ba Chua Xu (Regional Goddess) festival, Thoai Ngoc Hau tomb and other relic sites will be prioritized.
Sport tourism, community-based tourism and entertainment tourism will be developed as well.
The site aims to lure tourists from the southeastern region and Central Highlands region and foreigners in the sub-Mekong Delta region.
