Lang Son province kicks off Ky Cung festival
PANO - The Ky Cung festival - one of the biggest and most special festivals in Lang Son province which is observed annually from the 22nd to 27th day of the first lunar month is an opportunity for local people to enjoy various cultural activities and rituals and pray for good luck, happiness and prosperity throughout the year.
According to the tradition, the Ky Cung temple in Vinh Trai ward is dedicated to mandarin Tuan Tranh, while the Ta Phu temple in Hoang Van Thu ward is a place to commemorate Than Cong Tai who tried his best to exonerate mandarin Tuan Tranh who committed suicide by jumping into Ky Cung River to prove his innocence. On the 22nd day of the first lunar month, a group of people parade through the streets from Ky Cung Temple to Ta Phu Temple to repay Than Cong Tai for his kindness.
