Speaking at the ceremony, Mikazuki Group Chairman Yoshimune Odaka said the resort has welcomed 2.2 million guests since it opened in June 2022, achieving an average occupancy rate of more than 70% across its 342 rooms. He said this performance provides a strong basis for continued investment.

The second phase is designed as a multi-functional complex, featuring a 15-storey hotel tower rising 63m and 14 villas with a dedicated reception area. Once completed, the expansion will bring total capacity to 447 rooms. The new phase represents an investment of roughly 3 billion JPY (19.3 million USD), aimed at boosting Da Nang’s tourism appeal and upgrading its hospitality services.
Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi said Mikazuki Japanese Resorts & Spa is currently the largest Japanese-invested tourism and services project in the city, with total committed capital to date of about 3.9 trillion VND (147.8 million USD).
The resort now employs nearly 600 workers and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, contributing significantly to the city’s tourism growth and socio-economic development, she noted.
Japanese Consul General in Da Nang Mori Takero said Mikazuki is Japan’s largest tourism FDI project in the city and has become a symbol of cultural exchange. He highlighted the group’s contributions to the community and affirmed continued support from the Consulate General.
The implementation of the second phase is expected to expand the resort’s service capacity and enhance Da Nang’s premium tourism offerings, reinforcing the city’s position as a high-quality services hub in Vietnam and the wider region.
So far, Da Nang has established cooperative relations with more than 22 Japanese prefectures and cities. It has signed memoranda of understanding to establish formal friendship with six cities, including Kawasaki, Sakai, Yokohama, Kisarazu, Nagasaki, and Kinokawa, with Yokohama and Kawasaki both located in Kanagawa prefecture.
Japan remains the city’s largest source of registered investment, with over 1.14 billion USD across 261 projects, most of which are performing well and contributing to socio-economic development through technology transfer, workforce training and product diversification.
