The fourth International Travel Exhibition (ITE) 2008, the largest of its kind in Vietnam, kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City on September 12, aimed at highlighting the landscape, cultural heritage and tourism potential of countries worldwide.
The three-day event at the Phu Tho Gymnasium in District 11 has attracted the participation of Vietnamese tourist companies and their counterparts from many countries, including Australia, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Republic of Korea, Singapore and Thailand.
In the spotlight is Cambodia’s traditional Aspara dance, which has been recognized as an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO.
Visitors are very impressed by the Cambodian booth advertising the Angkor Wat temple complex, which lies 5.5 km north of the modern town of Siem Reap and trips to the capital Phnom Penh, which is known for the Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda and ancient Khmer arts.
Other booths set up by Thailand, Singapore and the Philippines are also impressive.
The ITE is expected to draw 10,000 public visitors over the weekend.
