It is the third time Vietnam has participated in an IOAA held for high school students, and it is the first time Vietnam has won a gold medal.

In 2016, the five-member Vietnamese team won one silver medal and four consolation prizes.

On November 11 afternoon, at the Vietnamese Embassy in China, Vietnamese Ambassador to China Dang Minh Khoi received the Vietnamese teachers and students participating in the IOAA.

He spoke highly of the delegation’s achievements, saying that the results have added to the proud collection of medals of Vietnamese students at international Olympiads, and inspired other students to further study and do research on astronomy and astrophysics
