As the first surgical hospital in Vietnam, the Vietnam-Germany Hospital conducts tens of thousands of surgeries each year to transplant hearts, blood vessels, and bones, which are in high demand in the country.

It is expected to become a leading research and training center on tissue preservation and stem cell transplantation, as well as transfer technology to other tissue banks which are to be set up in the future.

Earlier, Minister of Public Security To Lam met two patients who underwent successful viscera transplantation at the hospital and decided to take VND 5 billion (USD 217,000) from the ministry’s fund to equip the hospital with six specialized organ storage containers.

Thanks to them, the hospital was able to transfer hearts donated from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City-based Cho Ray Hospital and the Hue Central Hospital for transplant operations.

On the occasion, the hospital also inaugurated a modern health check-up area.
