The event attracted active participation of youths

Present at the meeting were various leaders of Central agencies, ministries and Hanoi as well as numerous volunteers from Hanoi and other localities across the country.

According to the organizers, the Red Journey 2019, lasting 50 days (from June 11 to July 31) and involving 39 Central-run cities and provinces, has attracted millions of people as voluntary blood donors.

After 265 blood donation days held in localities, more than 85,000 blood units have been collected, which has helped ease the shortage of blood for medical treatment at hospitals in the country.

Speaking at the meeting, Head of the Red Journey 2019, Doctor Bach Quoc Khanh at the Central Hematology-Blood Transfusion Institute said that 50 cities and provinces have participated actively in the program and 255,000 blood units have been collected over the past seven years. The program has now become a social movement, drawing the participation of people from all walks of life.

In Hanoi, the seventh Red Journey was scheduled for July 26 and 27, and the organizers expected to collect some 3,000 blood units. Within the framework of the blood donation program,  there were other activities such as incense offering at the Monument of Heroic Martyrs, National Flag Salute ceremony at the Hanoi Flag Post, collective Chachacha dance performance, Milestones of Red Journey” Gala and music show “Exciting summer.” 

50 teams with outstanding achievements in the Red Journey 2019 were honored at the meeting.
