Nearly 1,000 people join voluntary blood donation day
PANO - Da Nang city’s Youth Union Committee, in coordination with the Tien Phong Newspaper, organized the voluntary blood donation program themed “Red Sunday” in 2024 and reviewed the blood donation movement in 2023.
The event attracted the participation of nearly 1,000 people and youths in the city.
Deputy Secretary cum Chairman of Da Nang city’s Youth Union Organization Nguyen Ba Duan held that voluntary blood donation is a big movement in the society, in which youths play an important role.

In 2023, the municipal Youth Union Organization worked with relevant agencies to launch 57 blood donation drives, collecting more than 14,589 blood units to ease blood shortage at local hospitals and medical facilities.
Currently, the city has five reserve blood donation teams with 150 members who are willing to donate their blood if needed.
As scheduled, this time’s event collected about 1,000 blood units.
The “Red Sunday” program will be held from December 2023 to late January 2024 and expects to collect over 25,000 blood units for treatment before, during and after the up-coming lunar New Year festival 2024.
