Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Le Huy said that with a population of about 3.5 million, Hung Yen generates around 1,850 – 2,000 tons of household waste each day, along with about 1,000 tons of waste from production and business establishments, posing a major challenge for the locality.

Investing in a high-tech waste treatment plant that generates electricity using environmentally friendly solutions will not only help address the problem but also open up opportunities for circular economy development, renewable energy generation, and environmental protection for future generations, he noted.

The plant will be built on 7 hectares, with a waste treatment capacity of 1,600 tons per day and night and a power generation capacity of 40 MW. The total investment for the project is approximately 4 trillion VND (152.44 million USD).

The company provides fundamental solutions in local household waste treatment, with this project featuring incineration technology from Belgium that meets strict environmental protection standards in line with both European and Vietnamese regulations.

According to the plan, the facility is expected to begin operation in the second quarter of 2027, helping convert waste into clean energy, reduce pressure on landfills, create jobs for local workers, contribute to the state budget, and promote sustainable environmental infrastructure development.

Huy requested that all resources be mobilized to implement the project on schedule, comply with environmental protection regulations and standards, and apply advanced management practices to ensure efficient operation.

The group operates in 37 countries and territories. In Vietnam, it has implemented several waste treatment projects, including waste-to-energy plants in various localities.
