Hanoi responds to World No Tobacco Day
PANO – The Ministry of Health on May 28 held a meeting in Hanoi Opera House to mark the World No Tobacco Day and National No Tobacco Week from May 25 to 31.
With theme “Tobacco: A barrier to sustainable development of countries”, the World Health Organization pointed out consequences of using tobacco in health and economy as well as in world sustainable development. Currently, smoking is among the main causes of diseases and deaths in the world. According to the WHO, six million people die of smoking every year.

At the event, leaders of MoH also called on people to say no to smoking for the sake of their own health and others’ and to contribute to protecting our environment.
Later in the day, nearly 2,000 students in Hanoi took part in a parade along streets and danced flashmob around Hoan Kiem Lake to spread the message about life without tobacco.
