The event was attended by Bui Quang Huy, alternate member of Party Central Committee, First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) Central Committee, and Chairman of the National Committee on Vietnamese Youths; Nguyen Tuong Lam, Secretary of the HCYU’s Central Committee, and Standing Deputy Chairman of the National Committee on Vietnamese Youths; Ta Van Ha, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly’s Commission of Culture and Education; delegates from ministries and central agencies and Hanoi; representatives from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, China, the Republic of Korea, and Japan.
According to member of the Secretariat of the HCYU’s Central Committee Nguyen Tuong Lam, Vietnamese youths, identified between the ages of 16 and 30, account for 22.5% of the population. He affirmed that they are the force making important contribution to the cause of national construction and defense.
Over the past time, the State of Vietnam has issued many guidelines and policies in an effort to build a comprehensively-developed generation of Vietnamese youths. The system of Vietnam’s policies and laws on youth has been gradually perfected. Accordingly, the National Assembly of Vietnam has promulgated the Law on Youth, along with many important related documents. The Government issues decrees, and the Prime Minister promulgates the Vietnam Youth Development Strategy, projects and programs to mobilize young people to participate in socio-economic development.
This is the first time that the National Committee on Vietnamese Youth has organized the international forum on sharing experience in formulating and implementing youth development policies. At the forum, delegates focused on exchanging and sharing experience in formulating and implementing youth development policies of other countries in such areas as studying, scientific research; labor and employment; start-up; healthcare; culture and physical training; digital transformation; policies for young people; policies to ensure resources for the implementation of youth development policies.

At the event, delegates also assessed the situation and forecast possible impacts on countries’ implementation of youth development policies and proposed a coordination mechanism in formulating and implementing youth development policies and strengthen cooperation among youths of ASEAN, China, the Republic of Korea and Japan.
