Earlier, at 13:30 on May 4, Kaung Myat Zaw, a Myanmar citizenship, on Ship YM Cosmos traveling from Malaysia to Taiwan (China), was injured in his chest while maintaining the ship’s crane. The crew-member quickly fell into a coma, which could endanger his life.

Ship YM Cosmos, about 144 nautical miles off the coastal city of Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa province, sent a mayday to the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center, calling for help.

At 23:50 the same day, the Vietnamese center instructed the crew on the foreign ship to give the injured first aid on one hand and sent a vessel with a medical team on the other hand to bring the injured ashore.

The patient is now under treatment in Nha Trang city.
