Earlier, the trawler with three fishermen on board went adrift 17 nautical miles East of Quy Nhon as a result of engine failure. Receiving the information from its captain, Phan Thanh Tan, the Vietnam Maritime Rescue Coordination Center provided the fishermen with essential measures to ensure safety for both people and equipment and mobilized ship SAR 412 to approach the troubled trawler.

In spite of darkness, strong winds and high waves, the rescue team managed to approach the distressed trawler on September 28. They provided first aid, gave encouragement and took all the distressed fishermen ashore safely.

Binh Dinh provincial Border Guard Command then instructed Quy Nhon Border Port and the command’s medical staff to provide healthcare for the fishermen, repair the trawler and return it to the fishermen.

Representative of the Vietnam Maritime Rescue Coordination Center also presented gifts from leaders of the Ministry of Transport and the Vietnam Maritime Administration to the distressed fishermen.
