Speaking at the event, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Youth Federation Central Committee Nguyen Hai Minh called on youths and local people to join the “Footsteps for the community” program to raise fund for the construction of the communal house. He emphasized that participating in the event will not only help raise public health, but also uphold and promote the communal tradition of ethnic minority groups.
The sixth stage of the “Footsteps for the community” program will take place from August 6 to 28 in 63 provinces and cities across the country. The program targets to mobilize at least 1 million km of walking/running, equivalent to a donation of VND 1 billion, to support the building of a communal house for the Mang ethnic people in Nam Pi commune, Nam Nhun district.

The program is a practical and significant activity for the Vietnamese youths to contribute their part to raising the material and spiritual life of ethnic minority groups in Vietnam.
On the occasion, the organizing panel handed over 40 gifts, worth VND 50 million in total, to patriarchs, heads of villages, charismatic people, policy families, and needy ethnic minority students and symbolic boards of three “Beautiful school for children” projects to schools in Muong Te and Sin Ho districts, Lai Chau province.
In Nam Pi commune of Nam Nhun district, the organizing panel held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a communal house for the Mang ethnic people and presented 100 gift packages to needy Mang people and sporting equipment to local youths.
Within the program, the organizers inaugurated two “Happy house” projects, worth VND 160 million in total, for orphaned children in Lai Chau province.

The “Footsteps for the community” program is held nationwide in response to the “10,000 steps a day” movement to help youths be aware of the importance of exercise and mobilize them to do exercise to improve their physical fitness. The event is also to promote the vanguard and voluntary spirit of youths across the country in taking care of ethnic minority people and upholding traditional culture of ethnic minority groups.
The program is eligible for people from different age groups. For each kilometer of jogging or walking from participants, Sacombank will donate VND 1,000 to the communal house construction fund.

As planned, from 2020 to 2024, the program will build 16 communal houses, worth VND 1 billion each, for 16 ethnic minority groups across the country.
