Cam Lo district launches tree-planting festival
PANO – The Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the Youth Union chapter, and the People’s Committee of Cam Lo district, Quang Tri province launched a tree-planting festival on February 20.
The festival was part of activities in response to the government’s program of planting one billion green trees, entitled “For a green Vietnam.”

The event was supported by the Vietnam Environment Administration, the Center for Communications of Natural Resources and Environment, the Youth Union Organization of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE).
At the ceremony, the Center for Communications of Natural Resources and Environment and the Cam Lo district People’s Committee signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on planting 5.6 million new trees to protect the environment, improve forest coverage, and reduce impacts of climate change as well, contributing to promoting the sustainable development of the society, economy and environment.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Vu Minh Ly, Deputy Director of the Center for Communications of Natural Resources and Environment called on local authorities, agencies and units, organizations, and businesses to plant more green trees to protect the environment.
In the coming time, the MONRE and other agencies, units, organizations and businesses will accompany Quang Tri province in environmental protection activities, tree-planting in protective forest areas and mangrove forests, as well as local watershed forest restoration.
