The event was part of the celebration of the 128th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh and at the same time a practical activity to boost the realization of the Politburo’s Directive Number 5 in combination with the resolution adopted at the fourth session of the 12th Party Central Congress on Party building and revamping.

Addressing the event, Nguyen The Ky, General Director of the Voice of Vietnam, emphasized that with their deep sentiment, gratitude, enthusiasm, creativeness, and tireless devotion, artists, journalists, orators, and press, cultural, art and publishing agencies had tried their best to raise awareness of President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morals and lifestyle and of its important role in the development of each person, family and society together with revamping the Party and the political system.

The Award’s Steering Committee decided to award eight A, 34 B, 67 C, and 55 consolation prizes and to reward 19 groups and 11 individuals in recognition of their outstanding achievements in popularizing art, literary and press works.

The awardees were praised for popularizing role models in the movement of studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morals and lifestyle and in preventing and resisting degradation in political ideology, morals, lifestyle and manifestations of “self-evolution”, and “self-transformation” in the Party and the society. They were also praised for their outstanding efforts in the fight against corruption, wastefulness, bureaucracy and for their active and effective engagement in Party building and development of the Vietnamese culture and people.

About her awarded work, entitled “Truong Sa, Truong Sa”, journalist Truong Thi Thuong Huyen, Editor-in-Chief of the Hai Duong Art and Letters Magazine, confided that she was touched by the efforts in combat readiness training of troops and people in Truong Sa island district during her visit there. Huyen truly deserved the award for her twelve notes on Truong Sa.

A group of five journalists from the People’s Army Newspaper won a B prize for their series of articles named “Party’s vitality seen from the reality at grassroots-level,” which helped confirm that a strong Party comes from good Party cells and a good Party cell is built on the basis of good Party members.

The People’s Army Newspaper was also honored as an outstanding collective in popularizing art, literary and press works themed “Studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morals and lifestyle.”

Also at the ceremony, the award organizer confirmed that lessons would be drawn and more artists and journalists would be encouraged to have more valuable articles on studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morals and lifestyle by 2020 and subsequent years.
