ADB assists Vietnam in improving health care in disadvantaged areas
PANO – The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved USD 100.6 million to support the Vietnamese Government’s reform efforts to improve health service provision and the quality of health care providers, especially in poor border areas.
The package includes a USD 88.6 million policy-based loan, which will provide a budget for the Ministry of Health, as it implements complex reforms nationwide in key areas, such as public investment governance, health service provision, and health workforce quality in the local health care (LHC) system.
In addition, a USD 12 million grant will be used for those reforms in piloting health service provision models in 12 districts in six provinces with high poverty rates, large ethnic minority population, and susceptibility to health security threat.
