Vietnam wants to strengthen its multifaceted cooperation with Uzbekistan through a variety of channels, said Vietnamese Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Phu Trong.
Despite development in the bilateral cooperation, the two-way trade is still modest, Chairman Trong said during his reception for incoming Uzbekistani Ambassador to Vietnam Shavkat Jamalov in Hanoi on December 10.
A number of Vietnamese firms recently visited Uzbekistan to seek opportunities for cooperation and investment, especially in oil and gas operations, Chairman Trong said.
He said he believed Ambassador Shavkat Jamalov would make more contributions to strengthening and promoting bilateral relations, for prosperity and happiness of the people in each country.
Ambassador Shavkat Jamalov expressed his honour at taking office in Vietnam, saying he wished to contribute to boosting economic and trade cooperation between the two countries as well as enhancing bilateral coordination at regional and international forums during his term of office in the Southeast Asian nation.
