PANO - More than 100 veterans from the Traditional Association of Truong Son-Ho Chi Minh Road are joining a four-day trip to return to the old battlefields in provinces of Quang Binh and Quang Tri, starting from July 21st.
The trip is in celebration of the 68th anniversary of the War-Invalids’ and Martyrs’ Day on July 27th and the 70th anniversary of the traditional day of the transportation sector on August 28th.

In the morning of July 22nd, the delegation offered incense to their fallen comrades at the temple dedicated to volunteer youths who had sacrificed at the Long Dai ferry landing and at Truong Son National Martyrs’ Cemetery.
In the solemn atmosphere at Truong Son National Martyrs’ Cemetery, leaders of the Traditional Association of Truong Son-Ho Chi Minh Road stroke nine bells in commemoration of eminent men who sacrificed their lives for national independence and freedom.
After that, the veterans observed a minutes silence to show gratitude to fallen soldiers’ sacrifice in the resistance wars.
Also the same day, the delegation exchanged with officials and people in Gio Mai commune, Gio Linh district, Quang Tri province, where Transport Battalion 116 of Unit 559 received great support in the national resistance war. Veterans could not hold back their tears when meeting again their comrades there.
In the afternoon of the same day, the delegation paid homage to fallen soldiers at Road 9 Martyrs’ Cemetery.
In the evening of July 23rd, they released flower garlands and lanterns on Thach Han River in Quang Tri province to commemorate fallen soldiers and people of the 81-day and -night campaign in defending the ancient citadel of Quang Tri.
