PANO – The organizing panel of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) International Letter-writing Competition (ILC) 45 officially announced that the competition is open to competitors from October 9th 2015 to February 10th 2016. The theme of the competition is “Write a letter to your 45-year old self”.

Eligible competitors are Vietnamese students between 10 and 15 years old (by the academic year of 2015-2016). The letter must be in hand-writing and no more than 800 words long. Letters in foreign languages must be attached with a translated version into Vietnamese. On top of the letter are the name, date of birth, ethnic group, and address of the competitor. The letter must be sent by post, with a stamp, to the editorial office of the Thieu nien Tien phong (Pioneer Teenager) Newspaper at No5 Hoa Ma street, Hanoi.

The UPU competition consist of 39 official individual prizes, including 1 first prize (worth VND 5 million), 3 second prizes (VND 3 million each), 5 third prizes (VND 2 million each) and 30 consolation prizes (VND 1 million each). There are also 3 additional prizes worth VND 1 million each for ethnic minority competitors, competitors with disabilities, and the most junior candidate. Other prizes from the organizing panel will also be included.

The launch of the competition will be held by the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Vietnam Post, and the Thieu nien Tien phong Newspaper on October 14th at Tran Dang Ninh Secondary School in Nam Dinh city.
